National Apprenticeship Week: Lauren's Story
12th February 2025
Lauren Beasley may only be in the early stages of her time as Apprentice - Associate Scientist at Pharmaron Biologics in Liverpool, but she is already making a big impression.
I’ve been provided with a career pathway and an education to help me with my future career aspirations of working as a scientist within a laboratory-based setting.
Lauren Beasley, Level 5 Technician Scientist, ATMP, University of Kent

Pharmaron is a premier service provider for the life sciences industry, with global operations across 21 sites in China, US and UK. Pharmaron Biologics (UK) Ltd., based in Liverpool focuses on delivering CMC development and manufacturing services for gene therapy and biological products to a global customer base.
Apprentices are the next generation of talent, bringing fresh perspectives and are keen for innovation and change. They are eager to learn, adapt quickly to new challenges, and thrive in fast-paced environments. Over time, they develop not only technical skills but also a deep understanding of the values and mission of the company in which they are employed.
Incredibly Rewarding
According to Pharmaron’s Senior Manager of Process Sciences Taelor Patterson,
“Watching our apprentices grow from curious beginners to confident professionals is incredibly rewarding. Their energy and willingness to embrace new ideas ensure the company remains dynamic and forward-thinking, bridging the gap between established expertise and the future of the industry.”
“Although Lauren is still early in her apprenticeship here at Pharmaron, she has already added immense value to the company and has become a key member of the team. She is actively demonstrating all those values and behaviours apprentices provide to the organisation and is on her way to becoming a successful professional within the industry. In the short time Lauren has been with us on the apprenticeship scheme, her confidence has grown remarkably, and her skills and understanding of gene therapies have developed significantly. It has been great to see her progress.”

And what does Lauren make of it all? Her thoughts on the enabling benefits of an apprenticeship are clear.
“My apprenticeship provides me with a career pathway and an education to help me with my future career aspirations of working as a scientist within a laboratory-based setting, which I would have never been able to do without it.”
